ACCOMMODATION

Hawley's Gingerbread House is the only boutique backpacker in Devonport, on the first floor of a heritage weatherboard mansion, built in 1885, Accommodating a maximum of 12 guests each night, you are guaranteed a good night's sleep!

The four guest rooms sleep a maximum of 2-4 guests, and feature beautiful gothic arched leadlight windows which overlook the sandstone courtyards and gardens below. There is a kitchenette with basic appliances and a full gas BBQ in the outside courtyard. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the whole house and restaurant, with great food at discounted prices. There is a TV common room and wireless internet.

LOCATION

Located right beside the Spirit of Tasmania terminal in East Devonport, the Gingerbread House is the best place to start and finish your Tasmanian adventure if you are going on or coming off the ferry. The East Devonport village has a supermarket, pub, post office, laundry, pizza shop and newsagency. The Devonport city centre is on the other side of the Mersey River, which is best accessed by the little ferry (200 metres walk, $2.5 fare).

RESTAURANT

The ground floor Gingerbread Cafe offers inexpensive quality snacks and meals and a great vibe. Backpacker menu specials are offered exclusively to guests, including a 10% discount on all food and drinks.
