Property description
Quadrangles (called Si He Yuan in Chinese), is Beijing's historical culture heritage. Since Yuan Dynasty when Beijing was built as the capital, the Si He Yuan became a typical building style in the city.
Adjacent to the Forbidden City, there is an aged lane named "Nan Luo Gu", in its surrounding area keeps many characterized Si He Yuan. Nan Luo Gu has over 800 years history, about 786 meters long from the North end to the South
end, the feature of this lane is lower of both end, and higher in the middle, and 16 Hu Tongs are symmetrically distributed on the both side of Nan Luo Gu, it presents original Turtle-Shell structure of Yuan Dynasty. Here has always been a major residence of imperial families, social celebrities and high officials. As the largest, the best-preserved and the highest-grade quadrangle cluster, there are 28 structures have been listed as protected heritage sites by the government. Walking down the NanLuoGuo you may not only find out many historical marks, but also can hear a lot of legendary stories that happened in SiHe Yuan.
As a typical medium-sized quadrangle in the area of "NanLuoGu", Courtyard 7 is located west side to North end of the lane, which is in the "QianGuLouYuan" HuTong. It consists of three rows of courtyards that contain festooned gates, main houses, wing-room, side rooms and rear houses, which are circled by galleries. It is characterized by well-designed layout and structures.
