Most people opt to stay at Yougendo, our huge stately house - located just 1 min from the station at Oji city just a few minutes away by train from JR Nara station, a good opportunity to see the real 'local' Japan.
Chris, Shuko, Yuica and the team have welcomed over 4,500 guests in the past three years since opening.
We are featured in several major guidebooks and have appeared on Japanese TV and in a number of large publications such as Elle magazine U.K. and the Guardian newspaper.
Nara prefecture is a huge area (Nara city is just one small part).
There are countless places to visit from Yougendo including a lot of places that are hardly visited by foreign tourists. Got a JR pass? Yougendo is the ideal place to base yourself for a whole tour of the Kansai area.
We can promise you modern facilities, a very traditional feel and a spick and span environment. Let our young English speaking staff give you their first hand knowledge of the area.

Everything in close range: 1 minute from train station (JR / Kintetsu Line), all amenities close by. (supermarket, bank, post office, lots of restaurants etc..) Nice river and scenic views.
Horyuji Temple - enjoy a 15 minute cycle or short bus ride to Japan's FIRST world heritage site and the world's oldest wooden building!
Mt. Shigi - a beautiful sprawl of nature and temples on the local mountain top, good for hiking, great views of Osaka and HOT SPRINGS!
