Carpe Diem is located at the very quiet eastern end of Fisherman's Village, a pearl of fine restaurants and a few select hotels that are strung out long Bophut Bay.

Carpe Diem is a small hotel with very personalized service. The staffs speak English, French and Thai and are extremely attentive.

The restaurant is the first thing to catch the eye, in a large, beautiful wooden sala, you can feast on French and Thai delicacies

Fisherman's Village is also one of Samui's few communities, which is self-contained and small enough not to require the use of a car to get around. That helps keep the village a quiet thoroughfare and in the evenings you find lots of people simply walking its length as they look at all the restaurants and small shops , the restaurant serves up a plethora of mouth-watering treats.

Beyond it lays a snug poolside bar and the rather wonderful pool itself, just the kind to have you lounging around for the entire day, swimming a little, and then sunning yourself, and never wanting to leave. Superb pampering and great food.

As for the rooms, there are 3 types, classic, deluxe and family, making it possible for everyone to find something to their taste. Each has a Balinese-style bathroom, and with the combination of natural style decor and the open air, taking a shower here is hardly the dull task it probably is back at home, but a positive and indolent pleasure in itself. The rooms all have their own terrace and it's a great place to sit out of an evening and watch the night steal up over Samui, before heading out to savour what Fisherman's Village has to offer.

The rooms are equipped with cable TV, air-conditioning and last but not least, all have Wi-fi connections for your laptop. They're also nicely decorated and have real art on the walls, rather than any standardized and bland hotel paintings. The garden at Carpe Diem is tropical and lush, and the whole premises are well-kept and beautiful to look at, very restful on the eye.

For couples or families looking for a friendly spot with great food, and a splendidly calm area.
