Eco-chic boutique hostel, this is how we like to define ourselves, but… what does this exactly mean you might wonder… well, at Islaverde you will be able to experience the delights of nature while respecting it, we invite you to live an organic life style with us but without giving up one inch on style, comfort or beauty. We like to believe we have developed one of the most gorgeous sustainable gardens in the Atitlan basin, and we have made sure this garden-feel penetrates every single corner of our premises: you will find hanging orchids and humming birds sneaking into your bathroom or bedroom, organic shapes and materials, chic décor created with tons of imagination and a big load of savaged materials… turning rubbish into breath taking beauty is one of our maximas, and we like to believe we have become extremely good at it! While staying with us we can guarantee your carbon emissions will be cut down to a minimum level -not really good at measuring it though, too polluting!- and that without having to endure cold showers or raw brown rice meals… YES, we found the way, come and experience it!

Our location is hardly beatable, if Islaverde was a bit closer to the water… well, we would be IN it! There is no road access to the area -which keeps it as one of the most charming spots at Lake Atitlan- but we have our own dock, ensuring you can get dropped right at our door -no more luggage carrying from there!-. Our little private beach sits on a secluded sheltered corner away from the pollution and traffic of the main village docks, providing a heaven for swimming, kayaking, sunbathing and enjoying the nature of this gorgeous lake.

Walk 10 steps further and you will be submerged in the fresh atmosphere of our new restaurant, with its white cal walls -you would never guess they hide tons of inorganic waste- and massive veranda overhanging the water. When it comes to cooking, we use our own home grown organic vegetables, fruits and herbs. Because we care for our guest's health we cook all of our food from scratch to avoid unnecessary packaging and harmful chemicals, high quality vegetarian meals are always available, we use mechanical and UV filters to purify our drinking water -drinking water is FREE-, disinfect cutlery, dishes and fresh produce to avoid bacteria…. Our local kitchen staff will be pleased to serve you an eclectic menu with tons of imaginative options for breakfast and lunch -around 5US- and our infamous 3 course set meal for dinner -around 10US- with a variety of imaginative dishes that not only taste great but also look fantastic. Replenish your body with our selection of natural juices, organic teas, gourmet coffees and … a hell of a bar -offering wines, liquors and cocktails- YES, we figured a bit of indulgence does not hurt! Plenty of table games, magazines, a well taken care off library -with book exchange and a wide selection of travel guides and books-. For those in a real need for a connection to the world we have a computer with free internet access for our guests and WIFI connection around the restaurant… kind of cool to surf the web while lounging right above Lake Atitlan's waters… We have also put a share of energy in putting together an enormous selection of the best music…

A thatched studio with a hell of a view provides the space for practicing yoga, dancing or just lounging during the day.

Islaverde is not a party hostel, but for those willing to go crazy our closest neighbouring hostel offers wild parties you can join after a gorgeous 10 min walk under the stars.
Best known for our sweet -and chic- independent cabins we can accommodate the whole range of people that fits the Islaverde eco-chic proposal. All of them are set on a hill ensuring breathtaking views of the Lake and decorated in a pretty hip style, with Mayan woven materials and funky naïf art. Every single Islaverde bed has brand new orthopedic mattresses, cotton sheets, wool blankets and funcky covers made with recycled local fabrics. As for our bathrooms, we bet you have never seen anything like it; with an open air feel and the most gorgeous view, bamboo, stone and tropical plants provide you with complete privacy, piping hot water courtesy of brother Sun, great water pressure thanks to gravity, fresh cotton towels and natural based soap …nature providing one might be able to shower while a humming bird feeds right by!

Islaverde's extensive gardens are our open air living room: home to hundreds of local plants and birds there are tons of quaint little corners with swings, hammocks and benches for your disconnecting enjoyment.

For those not willing to lay on a sun chair all day we can arrange treks, cultural tours, kayak and boat trips and other activities like visiting a coffee plantation or a natural dye project. We also provide a wide range of massages and natural treatments at our SPA that has its own burning wood Mayan Sauna and Open air hot tub.
